Relief Through CES
(Cranial Electrobiologic Stimulation)

Internationally fibromyalgia (FMS) has been causing great pain, discomfort and anxiety for many people – research figures say up to six million people in the USA alone suffers from this debilitating illness. The incidence worldwide is likely to be manifold higher.

Fibromyalgia is a complex, chronic condition that causes widespread pain and fatigue as well as a variety of symptoms:

  • Musculoskeletal aches, pain, and stiffness
  • Soft tissue tenderness
  • Decreased sense of energy
  • General Fatigue
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Anxiety
  • Depression

Furthermore, certain other medical conditions are commonly associated with fibromyalgia, such as tension headaches, migraine, irritable bowel syndrome, premenstrual tension syndrome, cold intolerance and restless leg syndrome.

The pain of fibromyalgia has no boundaries. It can be so intense that it interferes with the performance of even simple task while fatigue can vary from a mild, tired feeling to exhaustion or a severe flu-like illness

There has been little success in treatment with conventional medicines and therapies, leaving both doctor and patient frustrated with the results.

Cranial Electrobiologic Stimulation (CES)

Positive results from recent studies suggest that CES may provide relief from symptoms of fibromyalgia, even where current interventions have failed to do so.

Cranial Electrobiologic Stimulation delivers a unique and tiny current through ear clips that are attached to the patient’s ear lobes. CES stimulates the hypothalamic area of the brain, causing it to manufacture various neurohormones that improve moods, emotions and cognitive capabilities.

A study published by Randal C. Cork in the Internet Journal of Anesthesiology (ISSN 1092-406X, 2004, Volume 8 Number 2) indicated that of a total of 74 patients, 39 in a CES group and 35 in a placebo group showed that 23 patients of the placebo group elected to cross over to active treatment after the unbinding at three weeks. Through this study they have demonstrated that active treatment with CES resulted in significant improvement in a number of clinical parameters associated with fibromyalgia, including subjective pain intensity

A peer-reviewed analysis, published by R.B. Smith in the American Journal of Pain Management, (11(2):62-66, 2001), documented CES treatment outcomes of 2,500 patients who responded to a survey. Of those there were 505 fibromyalgia, patients, 91 % of whom reported significant pain reduction (>25%). These patients all used CES for a minimum of three weeks. Similar results were reported for other pains, including migraine and other headaches, back, and neck pain.

World-renowned orthopaedic surgeon, Robert Becker, subscribes to the theory that the body functions electrobiologically and established that a controlled electric current can influence its ability to heal in the most profound way – exactly what Elexoma™ Apparatus does, assisting the body in its natural recover process.

Elexoma Medic™

A non-drug and non-invasive relief method for fibromyalgia sufferers is available by utilizing CES technology.

Redplane, the Swiss based pioneering biotechnology company, in partnership with the United Kingdom based Oxford Bioscience, has developed Elexoma Medic™, a dual action, handheld electrobiological system.

Elexoma Medic™ offers microcurrent electrobiological treatment (MET) and cranial electrobiological stimulation (CES), which complies with the latest European medical directive safety and quality system.

Now also represented in South Africa, RedPlane received the Technology Top 100 and Bio2Biz, the Department of Science and Technology endorsed award in recognition of developing the biosciences sector in South Africa.

RedPlane is committed to enhancing quality of life of untold numbers of fibromyalgia sufferers.

Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS) Study in South Africa

RedPlane, under the guidance of Oxford Bioscience, invites interested healthcare professionals to participate in a clinical research programme to evaluate its Elexoma Medic™ product in the management of FMS.
